BOMBS BY NIGHT

RAIDS ON EASTERN ENGLAND . ATTACKS AT THREE POINTS. ELEVEN CIVILIANS INJURED IN YORKSHIRE. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. LONDON, May 25. German bombers raided three parts of eastern England in darkness this morning and dropped small high-explosive bombs in the North Riding, Yorkshire, and East Anglia and also Essex. Great antiaerial activity broke out and the inhabitants who were awakened watched spellbound. A group of searchlights gripped a raider, and then there was the rattle of gunfire. The plane fled quickly over the sea. Eleven civilians were injured in Yorkshire. The damage was surprisingly small, there being many broken windows. The attack was brief. Two bombers appeared over Essex about a mile from the centre of a town. Only minor damage resulted. British machines chased the raiders away. Bombs were also dropped in East Anglian rural districts, damaging a couple of cottages and anti-aircraft guns went into action.
