ONE WAY OF HELPING WIN THE WAR. OTTAWA. Amateur gardeners in Canada will have an opportunity to aid Canada’s war effort, and are being urged by the Canadian Department of Agriculture to grow their own vegetables. In the words of an official of the Department, the reason is this: “The home garden can be made the source of wholesome, nourishing, inexpensive food supply that will lessen the demands on the regular vegetable-growing and canned vegetable industries of the nation, thus leaving a large surplus available for national purposes.” The Department also places a vast amount of valuable information at the disposal of the amateur gardener so that his garden may be the best.
