SENSATIONAL INCIDENT
SHOWMAN SHOT. ASSAILANT ESCAPES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 25. A sensational incident occurred in Victoria Street, Hamilton, on Saturdaynigh.t when a showman, Harold Thomas Newton, aged 42. married, was shot by an assailant who immediately drove off at high speed in a motorcar.
Newton received pellet wounds in the chest, but was able to leave the Waikato Hospital this afternoon; not being seriously injured. No arrest has yet been made.
