WEDDINGS

WATSON—FRATER. A pretty wedding took place recently at St Matthew’s Church, Masterton, when Sybil, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Frater, Masterton, was married to Noman McGregor, youngest son of Mr and Mrs T. R. Watson, Aberdeen, Scotland. The ceremony was performed by Archdeacon Rich.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a model gown of magnolia satin cut on fitting lines, the skirt falling from a graceful hand embroidered train, while the bodice and •sleeves were daintly smocked. Her tulle veil was held in place by a topknot of orange blossom, and a shower bouquet of gladioli, roses and maidenhair fern, completed the ensemble.

The bride was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Patricia , Thomas, and Miss Gladys Harcombe, who were frocked alike in gold figured satin. They wore top-knots of real flowers, and carried shower bouquets of autumn-tinted gladioli and sunshine dahlias.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr J. Corbishley as best man, and Mr C. K. Long as groomsman. Mr C. H. Toogood and Mr R. Forsyth were ushers.

A reception was held in the Masonic Hall where Mr and Mrs Frater received their guests, assisted by the bridegroom’s sister, Mrs Foster Biggar, Tuhitarata. The bride's mother wore a navy ensemble, navy hat and accessories to tone. Her shoulder spray and posy, were in the autumn tonings. Mrs Biggar wore a moss green ensemble, green hat and accessories to tone, and she also carried an autumn tinted posy. When Mr and Mrs Watson left on their honeymoon, the bride wore a blue tailored costume, navy hat and accessories and a grey squirrel stole. Their future home will be in Masterton. CRESSWELL —LATHAM. The wedding took place at St Paul’s Church, Wanganui, recently of Shirley May Latham, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs P. S. Latham, Heads Road, Gonville, Wanganui, to Alan Godfrey Cresswell, youngest son of' Mrs and the late Mr J. Cresswell, Masterton. The officiating minis’.er was the Rev David McNeur, of Masterton. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was gowned in opulescent satin cut on Empire lines with long sleeves and deep "V” shaped neck, edged with lace. The panelled skirt formed a long train over which fell a a cascade of lace. The beautiful embroidered tulle veil formed a halo effect with a coronet of orange blossoms and pearls. A shower bouquet of white roses, carnations, and freezias completed the charming effect.

Miss Joan McCann, of Timaru, was bridesmaid, and she wore a fully flared Atlantic, blue taffeta gown, featuring a ruched bodice, with the full puffed sleeves falling into a shirred band. The gown was finished off with trimmings of pale cyclamen velvet bows and sash. She wore flowers in her hair matching her bouquet, in cyclamen tonings. Mr E. A. Latham, of Wellington, brother of the bride, was best man. The ushers at the church were Messrs C. Faulknor (Masterton), and L. P. Latham (Wellington). The reception was held at the Wanganui Repertory Hall, where the bride’s mother received the guests attired in a black Plausen lace gown, worn over champagne satin, with black accessories.

The bride's travelling dress was a model two-piece frock in tonings _ of navy blue and lime, the jacket being embroidered with navy stitchings worn with navy overcoat, cut on fitting lines, with navy accessories.
