Southward of Sedan the enemy continued attacks without making appreciable progress, despite the means used.” GERMAN CLAIMS (Received This Day, 9 a.m.) LONDON, May 24. A German communique states: “Our troops have pierced the fortified Scheldt position in Flanders and captured the Tournai fortress, Maubeuge and the Loretta heights, north-west from Arras.”
