DANGER OF WAR

SENATOR ANSWERS COLONEL LINDBERGH. QUESTION OF AUTHORITY RAISED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. WASHINGTON, May 22. Senator Byrnes, in answer to a recent broadcast by Colonel Lindbergh said, “He is no more qualified to speak on United States foreign policy than ‘Wrong-Way’ Corrigan or any other aviator. When Colonel Lindbergh says no one wishes to attack us, is he authorised- to speak for Hitler, or Goering? “Can the American people in the light of recent history accept the assurances of this young gentleman that if wc do not ask for war it will not come to us? The fifth column is already active in America and those who consciously or unconsciously retard the efforts of the Government to provide for the defence of the American people are the fifth column's most effective fellow-travellers."
