PROPOSED IN UNITED STATES. MR LANDON'S SUGGESTION. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. WASHINGTON. May 23. Mr A. M. Landon, Republican leader, and President Roosevelt met in conference for two hours, after which Mr Landon issued a statement suggesting the establishment of a national defence council, “the members of which would not be merely Administration satellites.”
The White House issued a statement that the President was at present too busy to prepare political statements. The subject mentioned by Mr Landon was not discussed at the conference.
