MR W. R. NICOL RE-ELECTED CHAIRMAN.
FACILITIES FOR TRAINING AIRMEN.
At the annual meeting of the Wairarapa College Board of Governors, held last night, Mr W. R. Nicol was reelected chairman unopposed.
There were also present: Messrs F. C. Daniell, G. C. L. Dickel, A. O. Jones, J. D. O’Connor, F. M. Whyte and Mrs J. L. Hair. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs L. T. Daniell and T. Hanley.
The Neiv Zealand Anglican Bible Class Union wrote thanking the board for the use of the buildings and grounds last Christmas and enclosing a donation.
Letters were received from the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, and from the Minister of Education, Mr Mason, thanking the board for its congratulatory messages on their recent appointments.
The Works Committee reported that Mr R. Savage, the Education Department’s architect, had recently visited Masterton and discussed various matters Avith it.
An invitation was extended to Sir Harry Batterbee, British Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, to be the speaker at the annual break-up ceremony of the college in December. The offer of the board to provide facilities at the college for the Air Force training scheme had been accepted by the authorities, it Avas reported in a communication which came before the meeting and if the occasion warranted it, men would be trained at the college.
The following committees were set up: —Education: Messrs W. R. Nicol, T. Hanley and J. D. O'Connor. Finance: Messrs A. O. Jones, G. C. L. Dickel and L. T. Daniell. Works: Messrs F. C. Daniell, F. M. Whyte and Mrs .J. L. Hair.
