The Scotsman staying on the twelfth floor of an American skyscraper looked out of the window and saw what he thought was a threepenny-bit. He ran down to the next floor and it looked like a sixpence. On the next floor it seemed to be a shilling, and on the next a half-crown. He took the lift to the ground floor, ran out, and found — a dustbin lid!
