POWER FAILURE

TREE FALLS OVER LINES AT TE ORE ORE.

A tree fell across the power lines at Te Ore Ore at about 8.10 o’clock last night and as a result Masterton and other-parts of the district were plunged into darkness. Two 11.000 volt lines were brought down and the automatic relays operated immediately, cutting the lines dead.

Power was restored to vital consumers such as the hospital, as quickly as possible. Masterton experienced a "black-out" of twenty minutes. In other parts of the area affected power was restored within an hour.
