CONSCRIPTION URGED
PAHIATUA RESOLUTION.

PAHIATUA. May 20. On the motion of the Mayor, Mr S. K. Siddells, the Borough Council last night passed a resolution, that in view of the seriousness of the situation the Government be urged to institute conscription.
On the question of taking a referendum on the conscription of men and labour for the production of wealth, and means of taxation the council, it was stated, had previously refused to express an opinion, but would do so now owing to the seriousness of the situation.
