MOTOR DRIVERS
ISSUE OF NEW LICENCES
EARLY APPLICATION ESSENTIAL
To date, only 313 motor drivers’ licences have been issued by the Masterton Borough Council out of a total of over 2000 and only 190 out of about 1300 by the Masterton County Council. It is essential that licences should be renewed before the end of the month, as they are necessary for use on June 1.
Motorists who delay making application until June 1 or later may be called upon to pass a test in traffic law before a new licence is issued and if application is not made until after three months of the expiry of the present licence, a complete new test (including driving) has to be passed before a licence can be issued.
The Borough Council has a special staff of four to deal with applicants. Much more work’than usual is entailed this year, as in each case, a card has to be filled in before a licence is issued. Motorists who wish to avoid any undue delay are well advised to make application at once.
