BRITISH ORPHANS
AN IMMIGRATION SCHEME.
MEETING IN SOCIAL HALL TONIGHT.
Citizens of Masterton and district are reminded of the public meeting to be held in the Municipal Social Hall this evening at 7.45 p.m. In the absence of the Mayor, the chair will be taken by the Deputy-Mayor (Councillor W. White).
After an address by Mr A. Leigh Hunt, chairman of the Dominion Settlement Association, on “Britain’s Need and New Zealand’s Opportunity,” there will be a discussion on the possibility of promoting some scheme for assisting Britain by taking over some of he-’-' j 500,000 orphans, the number of whom is likely to be increased. It is urged that in the Mother Country’s lime of stress and strain it is fitting that the Dominion should give her all possible help and that there must be many men and women unable to contribute otherwise to the war effort who would welcome the opportunity to assist in this way. It is hoped that the meeting will be largely attended.
