Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames S. H. Hobbs and Christie, The annual report and balance sheet v. ere adopted. The balance sheet showed a credit of £3B. The report stated inter alia as follows: —The work of this sub-branch has continued steadily during the year, but the lack of financial support from many of the mothers is becoming a serious matter. If the work here is to be maintained, more support will have to be forthcoming. The number cf visits paid to the rooms by mothers, babies and older children was well up to the usual, and the committee feels that the financial side should increase accordingly. Nurse Tinkham’s work among the mothers and babies gives every satisfaction. Owing to their departure from the district, we have lost the services of Mr and Mrs W. G. Macky. They were both valued members of this branch, Mrs Macky as a member of the committee, and Mr Macky in his capacity as treasurer. Letters of appreciation have been sent to them both. Mr W ,N. Richardson kindly consented to fill Mr Macky’s position as treasurer. We all very much regret the continued absence through illness, of our excellent secretary, Mrs A. S. Carter. A letter from the committee, wishing her a speedy recovery, was sent. It is pleasing to learn there is now a steady improvement in Mrs Carter’s condition. We express our grateful thanks for the time and work she has given to the Society. In conclusion we express our grateful thanks to Mr W. N. Richardson for acting as treasurer, to Mr Gray for auditing the accounts, to Mr Jessen who daily opens and closes the rooms, the Press for publicity, and the committee for their kind assistance during the past year. We wish the new committee every success, and trust the Society will receive the support it so richly deserves.
