OFFICIAL COUNT COMPLETED. EARLY START WITH WORK EXPECTED. The offiial count of the votes recorded at the poll taken in Masterton on Wednesday on a proposal to raise a sum of £10,500 for waterrvorks improvement was completed yesterday by the returning officer. Mr. G. T. O'Hara Smith. The figures are: —For, 608; against, 257. The proposal was therefore carried by a substantial majority.

It is expected that an early start will be made with the work of con-crete-lining the lavo mains from the reservoir to the borough, which was authorised by the carrying of the poll. The firm undertaking the task will probably commence operations about the end of the month.
