TAKING IT CALMLY. VOROSHILOV ATTENDS OPERA. (Received This Day, 10 a.m.) MOSCOW, May 8. While the world was guessing at the reason for his removal from the post of Commissar for War, Marshal Voroshilov attended the Bolshoi Opera House together MM. Stalin and Molotov and Marshal Timoshenko. The newspapers report the change casually, the “Pravda” devoting a front page to the announcement that throe persons including Timoshenko have been promoted to the rank of marshal and also that officers of the pre-Revolution Army and Navy are being re-employed. Voroshilov's name first became publicly known, though obscurely, during the civil war in Russia which followed the Revolution of the previous year, he then being the commander of a detachment of Red soldiers engaged against the White Army. In 1925 Voroshilov was elected Commissar of War, and in 1933 was created marshal when ranks and stripes were reinstated by Stalin. He was one of five marshals appointed at that time.
