The Germans are reported to have mined the Narvik Fiord. Norwegian military officials say German troops have been landed by parachute about 30 miles north-east of the main Oster valley, but the Norwegians hold rugged mountains ranges separating them from Narvik. GERMAN GARRISON REINFORCEMENT DENIED. (Received This Day. 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, May 8. The Associated Press of America’s Berlin correspondent says it is not believed that the German garrison at Narvik has been reinforced since the arrival of the first troops. POLES IN NORWAY (Received This Day. 9.5 a.m.) PARIS, May 8. A Polish communique says Poles are fighting in Norway. GERMAN REPORT BRITISH CRUISERS STRUCK BY BOMBS. (Received This Day, 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, May 8. A German High Command communique states: “German planes struck two British cruisers with bombs off Narvik and also bombed the Allied positions and marching troops. One British plane was shot down east of Narvik.’
