TRAWLERS LOST
IN EVACUATION OF TROOPS FROM NORWAY.
POLISH FORCES LANDED AT NARVIK.
The Admiralty announces at Narvik Daventry states, that two British naval trawlers were sunk by aircraft in the evacuation of troops from Norway. Four others were badly damaged and were sunk by our naval forces. The casualties among the personnel were slight. According to a French report Polish troops have been landed at Narvik. ADMIRALTY GIVES DETAILS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, May 8. The Admiralty states that six naval trawlers were lost in the Trondheim evacuation, namely the Warwickshire (466 tons), Cape Chelyuskin (494 tons), Jardine (452 tons), Saint Goran (564 tons), Gaul (531 tons), and the Aston Villa. Two sank after air attacks and four were so damaged as the result of air attack, that it was not thought advisable for them to attempt the North Sea crossing and were sunk by our forces. The casualties were slight.
