POPPY DAY APPEAL
RETURNS FOR WAIRARAPA DISTRICT. LAST YEAR’S TOTAL EXCEEDED. The honorary secretary of the Wairarapa Returned Soldiers’ Association, Mr A. E. Prentice, acknowledges the following amounts in connection with the recent Poppy Day appeal:—
The total sales for Masterton were £235 5s 4d. The total sum exceeds last year’s total by £l9 10s Id. and constitutes a record for the district. The number of poppies sold was 6,932. Considering the calls on the public purse for various patriotic purposes the association considers the result most satisfactory and desires to express its thanks to all voluntary workers whose efforts made the campaign such a success, stated Mr Prentice.
