PRESSURE ON NARVIK
ADMITTED BV GERMANS MARCH OF REINFORCEMENTS DENIED. NORWEGIANS RESISTING NORTH OF TRONDHEIM. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 11.35 a.m.) LONDON. May 7. The German Official News Agency admits increased British and French pressure on Narvik, but claims that German troops are proceeding northward for the relief of the Narvik garrison, and have reached Mosjon. The Norwegian headquarters deny this, declaring that no German soldier has crossed the border between the North Trondelag and Nordland Provinces. Swedish messages maintain that the Norwegians arc stoutly resisting the German forces northward of heim.A majority of a German battalion are reported to have been wiped out in a narrow pass northward of Roros. Another report says several thousand Germans have been killed in Norway. Many wounded are reaching Oslo, where mass graves have been dug in the cemeteries. According to a German wireless message, seven large and ten smaller Norwegian warships have been requisitioned for coastguard purposes.
