Miss A. M. Brown. Masterton weather recorder, supplies the following summary for April (figures for April last year given in parentheses): Pressure at 9 a.m. standard time, highest. 30.66 inches on 23rd (30.71); lowest. 29.76 on 18th (30.18).
Temperatures: Absolute shade maximum, 78.1 degrees on 2nd (77.8); absolute shade minimum, 28 degrees on 4th (29.3). Thus the range was 50.1 (48.5). Mean temperature for the month, 51.2 (55.1). Absolute grass minimum. 20.3 on 24th (20.2); average grass minimurn, 33.7 (36); average at one foot underground, 53.5 (56.1). Severest Frost. 10.1 on night of 24th (10.2). Days of frost (grass minimum 30.4 degrees Fahr, or lower), 11 (9); of shade temperature below 32 degrees F„ 4 (3);'of gale, 0 (1). Total rainfall. 3.2 inches on 18 days (4.22); greatest fall. 73 points on 18th (159 points). Total sunshine. 140.9 hours (164.2); daily average, 4.7; sunniest day. 24th, 10 hours (10.65).
