MOTOR RELICENSING

NEW PLATES AND COUPONS. ISSUE Al MASTERTON STARTS THIS MORNING. The issue of new number plates for motor vehicles and of new petrol coupons commenced at the Masterton Post Office this morning. A special staff has been detailed to attend to motorists applications and it is emphasised that those who wish to avoid delay are well advised to make early application for their plates and coupons, which become operative on June 1. Plates so far allocated to Masterton are numbered 77.001 to 78.000. This year the plates have white numbers on a Venetian red background. The petrol coupons have different colours for the various classes of motor vehicles, one gallon coupons for motor cycles, having a violet background; two gallon, red, for cars under 9.5 h.p.; three gallon. yellow, for cars between 9.5 and 14.5 h.p., and four gallon coupons, green, for cars over 14.5 h.p.
