WOMEN’S DIVISION

TIRAUMEA BRANCH. MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age" Special.) A successful time was spent by the members of the Tiraumea branch of Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union, when they assembled in the local hall for their monthly meeting. Mrs. A. C. P. Hay, the new president of the branch, was in the chair. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. H. McManaway. Mrs. M. Robbie, and Mrs. E. Lindergreen, who were the hostesses. Each member brought a plate of shortbread, which was judged for the monthly competition, and afterwards packed in tins to be sent to New Zealand soldiers overseas. The winners were Mrs. M. Robbie and Mrs. R. Harman, junior, equal first, Mrs. N. Hislop second. The best bloom competition was won by Mrs. T. Wright, with a beautiful pink rose.' and Miss E. Wallis was second with a white dahlia. The junior members competition for the best sponge cake was won by Misses E. and N. Wallis, who were equal. The roll call was “How I Keep Fit," and many amusing incidents were related.

After some community singing the meeting was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
