BREACH OF TRUST
FORGERY OF WITHDRAWL SLIPS AT WIGRAM. MAN SENT TO GAOL FOR SIX MONTHS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. Violations of the trust which must exist between men living in camps and barracks must be treated seriously, said Mr. Justice Northcroft in the Supreme Court today, in sentencing Reginald Albert Henry Strudwick to six months' imprisonment on a charge of forging cheques. Strudwick was a parachute packer at Wigram, and. finding a Post Office bank book forged two withdraw! slips.' "Probation cannot be granted in such} a case as this." said the judge. "In thevery nature of things, men living together in camps and barracks must trust each other. It is not possible to secure their personal things against theft, and their security must be their trust in the honesty of their comrades. When this trust is broken, there is not only a material loss, but also a general loss of confidence in each other. Those who offend against, this code must not expect to receive indulgent sentences from this Court.”
