SOLWAY OLD GIRLS
WAIRARAPA BRANCH BRILLIANT BALL LAST NIGHT. OUTSTANDING COLOUR SCHEME. The fourth annual ball of the Wairarapa branch of the Solway Old Girls’ Association held in the Masonic Hall last night was an outstanding success. Among the dancers were visitors from all parts of the Wairapaa. The general decorative scheme was carried out in silver and green, the college colours, small tables being arranged in cabaret style around the hall. The green tables and the colourful dresses created a brilliant scene. The president, Mrs Eric Shaw, gowned in, gold lame, with flame-tinted shoulder spray, made a charming hostess, being assisted by the joint secretaries, Mrs A. Southey' (pink angelskin), and Miss A. G. Tregurtha (black taffeta). ,
The duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr lan Shaw, the music being provided by Mr J, Barnes’s orchestra.
The following debutantes were presented to the Mayoress. Mrs T. Jordan (black beaded georgette and scarlet spray):—Misses Mary Lawrence (cream lace over satin); Joan McGregor (French ninon sheer); Nola Bannister (white taffeta and lace); M. McClymont (white Spanish lace); M. Melis Brown (white net over taffeta); and Zona Holloway (oyster satin). The Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Phyllis Miller and Mr A. Andrew.
