“SMASHING THE SPY RING.”

The programme at the Cosy Theatre tonight will be headed by “Smashing the Spy Ring." Ralph Bellamy and Fay Wray are co-featured in “Smashing the Spy Ring,” as a federal agent and as the sister of a murdered G-man. Both appear to perfection in the type of characterisations which won them fame., Bellamy, it will be recalled, was one, of Hollywood’s finest dramatic character actors prior to his recent conversion to comedy roles; Miss Wray, it will ba recalled, is one of Hollywood’s most attractive and most talented young women, well-known to action film fans. Others who appear to advantage in the new film are Regis Toomey, as Bellamy’s young aide; Warren Hull, the G-man who penetrates to the inner councils of the spy ring before he is discovered and murdered; Ann Doran, as the blonde decoy for the gang, and Walter Kingsford, as the suave scientist who is the espionage ring's master mind.' “Smashing the Spy Ring,” is a lavishly-pro-duced film, rich in exciting action. Huge airplane factories and carefully guarded poison gas laboratories, hospitals and Government buildings, all background the swiftly-paced narrative. Dangerous experiments with a newly-developed poison gas are shown; an airport accident in which government planes gas-bomb government men; and a stirring battle between Bellamy, trapped in the hospital headquarters of the spy ring, and, the gang he is attempting to capture are among the many thrilling incidents. The supporting film, “Colorado Sunset,” features .the popular Gene Autry, Smiley Burnette and Lary (“Buster”) Crabbe in an exciting story of a western milk war. Also shown will be the Centennial Baby Film which is arousing keen public interest.
