ENJOYABLE GATHERING POPULAR COUPLE GUESTS OF HONOUR. (“Times-Age" Special.) A very enjoyable lime was spent in the local hall on Saturday, the occasion being a social tendered to Miss Rita Burrows and Mr Bertram Schofield in view of their approaching marriage. This popular couple were the guests of all .the residents of the Westmere and Te Wharau districts, and also of numerous friends from Masterton and elsewhere. . The gathering took the form of a dance and before the supper adjournment. Mr I.' Macrae took the opportunity' of congratulating the guests and in a fe.w well chosen words referred. to their popularity in the district. On behalf of the residents he presented them with a handsome canteen of cutlery.'. • Mr Schofield, on behalf of. Miss' Burrows and himself, returned thanksfor the splendid gift, and gave one and all present an invitation to visit them in theii- new home, at Mauriceville. Dancing was kept up till midnight when a very enjoyable gathering was brought to a' close with the singing of "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows" and "Auld Lang Syne.” r The- music for the dancing was .supplied by Mr J. Stewart. Mr McKinstry played extras, .while Mr S; Gray proved an efficient M.C. The usual, excellent supper was served by the ladies. GOLF CLUB 'ANNUAL TOURNAMENT. Good entries have been received for the annual golf tournament which is to be held this year on April 25. Two events' lor ladies' and men will be decided and as the links are in good I order some keen contests are expected. Good trophies will be given for the first and second in each event. Play will start at 9.30 a.m.
