SOUTH FEATHERSTON

SCHOOL ASSOCIATION ANNUAL REPORT. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual report of the South Featherston Home and School Association states: —"The year has been a successful one. the meetings being well attended and competitions keenly contested. especially the dressing of 18 dolls for the Christmas Tree, which created much interest. The dolls were on exhibition at the Featherston flowei show. Owing to the dances being discontinued for some time the euchte parties have shown very little profit this year. The following grants were made throughout the year: Basket ball for school, new grate for supper room, jug and immersion heater for teachers’ use. 18 dolls for competition, plants and seeds for garden. £6 for presents on Christmas Tree. £2 10s for supper for fancy dress party, £4 10s lor picnic prizes and £2 for ice cream. We finished up the year with a gathering to welcome home Seamen Ashworth and Brash, of H.M.S. Achilles, and to entertain Messrs. R. Blain and D. Benton, of the Second Echelon. Mr. A. Clark presented each man with a box ol handkerchiefs from the Association. The expenses of the evening were paid by the association and the total proceds (£7 13s 6d) were handed over to the Patriotic Funds. With no outstanding accounts, we finished up our year with a credit balance of £l9 175.” The report is signed by Mr. P. A. Wilton, hon. secretary. LIFE SAVING SOCIETY LIST OF AWARDS. The annual report of the Featherston branch of the Royal Life-Saving Society states: —The following have gained the Society's awards: Bar to bronze medallion. K. Hocquard. C. Rasmussen. M. Foss; bronze medallion, M. Cole. P. Hatton. M. Rowles, N. Wilton; intermediate certificates, M. Cole, P. Flatton. M. Rowles, N. Burt. K. Lang, R. Burt. F. Rasmussen, B. Fuge, T. Buck. D. Raper. L. Halpin. C. Hayes, P. Peene; elementary certificates, Muriel Saunders, Nancy Burt, Graham White, Jack McNamara; primary school certificate, Patsy Halpin. Hockey Club Dance. The best attendance for some weeks was recorded at the Featherston Girls Hockey Dance on Saturday night. The Monte Carlo was won by Mr. A. Reed and Miss J. Wyeth. Mr. C. Buck was M.C.. and Mr. Boyd supplied the music. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs D. W. Burt were weekend visitors to Wellington. Mr. N. E. Edwards spent the weekend as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Lumsden. South Featherston. Mr. and Mrs. Hansen are the guests of Mrs. A. Simmonds, South Featherston.
