BOY KILLED

AN UNUSUAL ACCIDENT. MOTOR TRAGEDY AT DUNEDIN. (By Telegraph—Press. Association.) DUNEDIN, April 21. A 14-year-old schoolboy was killed instantaneously and three men were injured in an unusual accident that occurred at Macandrew Bay at about 5.45 on Saturday evening. A motor truck, which was proceeding toward Dunedin, struck a 14ft sailing boat that was being dragged across the road into Howard Street. After striking the yacht the truck veered across the road and capsized over the sea wall into the water. Victims of the accident were:— KILLED. lan Robert Sullivan, aged 14 years, who resided in Hazel Avenue, Dunedin. INJURED.

Frank Sturmer, a married man. living at Macandrew Bay, injuries to left leg and shock. John Baillie, a young man living at 650 Cumberland Street, shock and cuts on his arms. Alexander Geddes, a young man of 234 Hanover Street, lacerated hand and shock. Sullivan, in company with two youths. William Trotter and Chai les Robinson, was assisting Mr Sturmer drag his sailing boat across the main highway. The boat was mounted on a trolley "and Sullivan and Mr Sturmer were pushing near the stern of the yacht, when the motor truck, driven by James McNulty, Dunedin, struck the boat aft. Sullivan received severe injuries and must have died instantaneously. Mr

Sturmer was not seriously injured, but was removed to Hospital. After the impact the truck veered across the road and overturned into the water. The driver escaped injury, but the two passengers. Messrs Baillie and Geddes, had to be taken to hospital, where they were admitted at '7 o'clock. Visibility is stated to have been good at the time of the accident. An inquest on Sullivan was opened before Mr 11. W. Bundle. S.M., this afternoon and. after evidence of identification had been given, it was adjourned sine die.
