Mr Kemble Welch, of Wellington, and formerly of Masterton, is visiting Masterton. Messrs. W. Leatham (Napier), E. McGhie and Gwynne Ellis (Wellington) are guests at the Hotel Midland. Masterton, today. The Hon W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, who is indisposed, is in the Bowen Street hospital. Wellington. The death is reported in London of Dr A. C. Haddon, a well-known investigator of zoological and anthropological problems. Mr D. A. Young. Examiner of Titles, Land and Deeds Department, in Dunedin, has been elected a member of the Public Service Board of Appeal. Mr Ernest S. Nichol, of the Invercargill staff of Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., has been appointed to the
position of assistant manager of the firm’s London office. Mr. L. McCracken, who was injured in the fatal motor accident at Homebush recently, spent a comfortable time last night, and Mr. L. Bellworthy, who was also involved in the accident, is reported to be making good progress. The condition of Mr. R. J. King, who was admitted to the Masterton Hospial as the result of injuries received when he was knocked down by a motor car on Thursday, remains unchanged. According to a London cablegram the death has occurred of the Duke of Rutland, brother of Lady Diana DuffCooper. He is succeeded by his eldest son, the Marquis of Granby, who is at present a second lieutenant in the Grenadier Guards. Mr W. L. Graham, L.D.S., R.C.S. (Edin.), has been appointed lecturer in dental prosthetics at the Auckland University College in succession to Mr J. H. Kinnear, who has joined the Military forces. Mr Graham is in charge of the Auckland Hospital Boards dental clinic.
