FOUND DEAD
FATALITY AT TAUERU. The body of Mr. John Ellison. 60 years of age. was found yesterday in a pine plantation .at Taueru. He was last seen alive at l(X30 a.m. yesterday, when he was gathering pine cones in the plantation. At 11.30 a.m.. Mr. Ellison's car was noticed standing in a private roadway, and Mr. J. H. Garnett,, of Abbotsford, who went into the plantation to investigate, found Mr. Ellison lying among fallen branches. He had apparently collapsed while gathering cones. Constable C. Reardon and Dr. Archer Hosking were summoned. An inquest' will be held. The late Mr. Ellison, who was born in England, had lived in the Wairarapa district for a considerable number of years. He was a farm labourer by occupation and for a time was a resident of Featherston, where he was married.
For about 13 years he was employed at “Matahiwi,” and for the past few months by Mr. Colin Deans. Taueru. His wife predeceased him about six months ago. A son resides in Masterton. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving St. Patrick's Church, following Mass, which will be celebrated at 9 a.m., for the Masterton Cemetery.
