STOCK JUDGING
YOUNG FARMERS’ DISTRICT COMPETITION ; — INDIVIDUAL PRIZE WINNERS. j TEAMS TO COMPETE AT MARTON. The Wairarapa district Young Farmers' stock judging competition took place at the Solway Showgrounds yesterday, when the following teams, representing the clubs indicated, took part: Masterton. A. and B; Alfredton. Tinui. Carterton A and B. Greytown and Martinborough. Although it was possible to select the individual prizewinners yesterday the inter-club results will not be available for some days. The results of the individual judging were: — Romneys: N. Wyeth (Mastertpn). 1. I. McLaren (Martinborough). 2, H. Morrison (Tinui). 3. Southdowns: M. Hancox (Martinborough), 1, D. McLachlan (Masterton), 2. H. Bannister (Masterton), 3. Dairy cattle: V. Gates (Greytown), I. W. Campion (Carterton). 2. E. Henderson (Masterton), 3. Baconer pigs: W. Benson (Masterton). 1, C. Bliss (Carterton), 2, V. Cripps (Tinui), 3. Beef cattle: W. Jury (Martinborough), 1; R. Stowell (Masterton). 2; C. McKay (Masterton), 3. Clydesdales: J. Rose (Carterton), 1, O. Wyeth (Masterton), 2, J. Milne (Carterton), 3. The judges and demonstrators for the various classes were: Romneys. Mr L. N. Hoggard; Southdowns, Mr A. H. Falloon; dairy cattle. Mr Alex Keith; baconer pigs. Mr A. Johnson; beef cattle, Mr. J. M. James; Clydesdales, Mr A. W. Whyte. The marshal stewards were: Romneys. Mr H. Bennett; Southdowns, Mr P. D. McLachlan; dairy cattle. Mr A. McDonald; baconer pigs, Mr R. W. Bremner; beef cattle. Mr J. Andrew; Clydesdales, Mr M. Blatchford. In addition to the class winners two others were selected to represent the Wairarapa at the Provincial judging competitions to be held at Marton next Wednesday. The two Wairarapa teams (four each) will be: Messrs G. Blatchford. V. Gates. W. Benson and M. Hancox; Messrs W. Jury, H. McKenzie, J. Rose and N. Wyeth. Thanks for the loan of stock were expressed to Sir William Perry, Messrs R. Gray, A. H. Falloon, G. Blatchford and W. H. Booth and for assistance in cartage to Mr R. S. Tyacke. The foui' cows used in the Jersey section were supplied by Mr W. Henry Booth. Two had been classified by the New Zealand Jersey Breeders’ Association Classification Committee and awarded V.H.C. and all four were show animals. The cards showed that the boys had a very sound idea of what a Jersey cow should look like. DANCE IN EVENING. GATHERING AT MASONIC HALL. The Masterton Young Farmers’ Club held its first dance of the season last night in the Masonic Hall, when visiting members of Young Farmers’ Clubs were entertained. Te Tail’s Orchestra played the dance music and the M’s.C. were Messrs J. F. McKay, D. McGregor and H. Bannister. The supper arrangements were in charge of a ladies' committee under the direction of Mesdames W. James and W. F. McLaren. The evening proved a most enjoyable one.
