POPPY DAY SUCCESSFUL APPEAL. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Eketahuna Poppy Day appeal was held yesterday and it is gratifying to report that the amount realised from the sale of poppies was 20 per cent above that of last year, the sum raised being in the vicinity of £26. Personal Items. Mrs F. Christie, of Nelson, will be the guest of her nieces, the Misses Wilson. Stanley Street, for the weekend. Misses H. McDonald and J. Scott, Dunedin, have returned home after visiting Mr and Mrs D. Scott, Main Street. Mr J. Daniel, Napier, is visiting his mother, Mrs H. Daniel, Senr., Vile Street, Parkville. Messrs J. Crocker and K. Spence, of Sydney, are the guests of Mr and Mrs S. Daniel, High Street. Late Mr H. Price. An inquest was held into the death of the late Mr Harold Price before Mr H. P. Lawry, Coroner, at Eketahuna, yesterday. Evidence was given that deceased had been suffering from the after effects of influenza. The Coroner returned a verdict that deceased committed suicide by drowning in the Makakahi River on April 17 while in a depressed state of mind. Eketahuna Stock Sale. There was a good entry of sheep at the Eketahuna Stock Sale yesterday and competition was keen throughout prices being satisfactory.
