The Australian middleweight champion, Ron Richards, was surprisingly defeated last night by the coloured American, Archie Moore, in a twelveround bout at the Sydney Stadium. Richards had both eyes cut and also received severe punishment. The contest was stopped in the tenth round and Moore was awarded a technical knockout.
