ELECTRIC POWER
MEETING OF WAIRARAPA BOARD INCREASE IN REVENUE REPORTED. SECRETARY-MANAGER'S REPORT. The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board was held at Carterton this morning. In the course of his monthly report setting out in detail the financial position of the board, the Secretary-mana-ger, Mr Geo Brown stated that the satisfactory increase in revenue which had been experienced month by month during the year was maintained dining March. 'The net revenue, excluding bulk supply, increased by £206, and the estimate was exceeded by £57 For the full financial year there was’a gain on 1939 of £6413, and a gain of £3227 on the estimate. Bulk supply showed an increase on the estimate of £192. There was an increase of 34.801 units sold on those of last year. The position of the trading department was considered satisfactory. During March 112 permits for new installation work were issued, and the connected load was increased by 289 killowats (including' 173 light points. 91 heat points. 22 ranges 34 water heaters and 28 motois). The number of consumers to date totalled 60,6 ENGINEER'S REPORT.
In submitting a report covering m full the engineering activities of the past- month, the chief engineer, Mr H. B Keenan stated that in the Northern area a total of 14 service connections, had been erected. The progress of the work on the duplicate feeder to Masterton was 3 months behind schedule, owing to the delay in delivery of poles from overseas. A substantial number of gas water heaters in the State housing block had been converted to electrical operation, and the remaindei were in process of conversion. In the central a’-ea seven service connections were erected during the month. AU lines had been patrolled during the month One service connection had been made in the southern area, and all the lines were in a satisfactory condition The overhaul of the lower power station would be made from April 15 to April 20. Both plants had been operating in parallel with the Government supply during the month. The inspection department carried ou a total of 242 inspections. The annual load factor would be about the same as last year.
