PRICES GENERALLY FIRMER FOR SHEEP. LITTLE ALTERATION IN CATTLE VALUES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. A large yarding of all classes of cattle was forward at the sale conducted in Johnsonville yesterday. The bullocks penned comprised chiefly heavyweightcattle, with a few pens of light and mediumweight bullocks. Extra prime heavy bullocks met with a good sale, with prices showing little alteration on those of last week, though light and mediumweight cattle were hard to quit. Prime quality cows and heifers met with a steady sale with prices 5s to 10s a head down on last week’s. Unfinished cattle were not wanted. There was a good demand for runners and vealers with prices firm on those ruling last week. A large yarding of wethers, an average yarding of ewes, and a small yarding of lambs were forward. Extra prime heavy wethers met with keen competition, with prices showing a firming tendency, though light and mediumweight sorts were easier by 6d to Is a head. Black-faced two-tooths were firmer by Is a head. Extra prime heavy ewes met with a good sale, prices being Is a head up on those ruling last week. Mediumweight ewes met with no alteration, and light and unfinished ewes sold at prices equal to those ruling at the works. All classes of lambs sold readily, prices being fully Is a head up on last week’s. Prices are:—

Cattle. —Prime extra heavy bullocks £l6 to £l4 10s, prime heavy £l4 7s 6d to £l3 10s, heavy £l3 7s 6d to £l2, light and unfinished bullocks £ll 15s to £lO 10s. extra prime heavy cows and heifers £9 18s to £8 Is, prime heavy £7 17s 6d to £7 ss, cows and heifers £7 2s 6d to £6 ss; ex-dairy cows £5 to £4 2s 6d; runners and vealers £4 to £1 18s; small calves £1 12s to 10s. Sheep.—Prime extra heavy wethers 29s Id to 26s sd, prime heavy 26s to 24s 3d, medium 23s 6d to 225, light 21s 6d to 18s 3d; black-faced two-tooths, heavy. 25s 9d to 24s 6d. medium 23s to 225. light 21s to 17s 4d, prime extra heavy ewes 23s to 20s, prime heavy 19s Id tc 17s 4d. medium 16s 9d to 15s 2d: heavy lambs 24s to 21s Bd, medium 20s 6d to 18s 6d, light 17s 9d to 16s lOd.
