PHYSICAL WELFARE
WOMEN'S SUB-COMMITTEE BEING FORMED. ACTIVITIES IN MASTERTON. A large attendance of representatives of women's organisations and sports bodies of the district is expected at a meeting to be held in the Municipal Hall at 7.30 o'clock tonight, when a women's sub-committec will be formed of the local Physical Welfare Recreation branch. The meeting, which will be very brief, will be followed by a demon-' stration of the work to be carried out by the Interhouse' Girls’ Association, which will pltiy a prominent part in the movement to further physical recreation. Participation in the classes to be held is open to women of any age. as age groups will be formed.. The first object of the movement, which will bo under the supervision of Miss Thompson, Government, instructress. will be the formation of a leaders’ group, which will cover all aspects of leadership. The leaders, who would be ‘ representative of' all organisations, would cover a course of one hundred hours' training. A charge of 7s 6d (to cover hall and equipment expenses) would be made for the leaders’ course and a charge of is a night for the keep fit classes. The same object is being pursued in other realms of sport, where trained leaders will be able to give their teams "limbering up” exercises prior to the commencement of games or matches. It is considered that the danger of unfit players suffering from the effects of playing without any previous training or exercise will thus be eliminated.
