CRIPPLED CHILDREN
WAIRARAPA BRANCH. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. At a meeting of the Executive of the Wairarapa Branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children’ Society this week it was reported that an obturator made for a youth with a cleft palate had resulted in a considerable improvement in his speech. Arrangements had been made for another youth to have a cleft palate operation shortly. A handwork competition for crippled children has been instituted by the Wanganui Branch of the Society. Children in the Wairarapa are eligible to enter and no doubt the competition will attract considerable interest amongst the children. Prizes which have been donated will be given for first, second and third places In each class. Accounts amounting to £2l 10s 2d were passed for payment and a donation of £3 towards the purchase of clothing for a crippled boy was authorised. A letter of thanks is to be forwarded to Mrs J. McAnulty. snr., Kaiparoro, for the gift of a hand loom for weaving. The loom will be used by the crippled children at the Masterton Public Hospital. Mr and Mrs P. J.
