FARMERS’. UNION I ANNUAL BRANCH MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Tinui branch of the Farmers' Union was held yesterday, the chairman. Mr J. Andrew presiding. All present stood as a mark of respect to the late Messrs D. H. Speedy and H. H. S. Ryder, very old and esteemed members of the branch. The chairman in his report, referred to guaranteed and commandeered prices, and went on to state that the Government had already been asked to take a national register. Some form of conscription for active service should, he said, be brought in. Costs were still rising. The Dominion Executive of the Union were very much alive and members should give the I Union every support. , Officers were elected as follow! Chairman, Mr I. A. Speedy; viceI chairman. Mr P. Andrew: committee. Messrs H. G. Groves. W. G. Groves, T. W. S. Langdon. E./H. Schofield, H. C. Beiliss. P. Andrew. C. C. Horsburgh, R. F, Foreman, J. M. Laing and J. Andrew; delegates to inter-provincial conference. Messrs J. Andrew, I. A. Speedy and P. Andrew; delegates to provincial executive, Messrs J. Andrew, and I. A. Speedy. The following remits were approved: That the protection of ferrets, stoats, weasels and wild cats be reintroduced. That a universal age mark for sheep be made compulsory. That the branch is in favour of conscription. as in the last war. Mr J. Andrew was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his services as chairman for many years past. Mr J. M. Laing pointed out that with the cutting back of road corners and straightening of roads the mile pegs were not correct in many cases. He gave an instance in which one carrier had charged him for 26 miles, and another for 28 miles, the difference in I cost being 15s. The Wairarapa Auto- | mobile Association had recently erected a sign post at Langdale giving the I distance from Masterton as 25 miles, whereas it was 24 miles. He moved that the Masterton and the Castlepoint. County Councils be asked to correct the mileage posts. This was agreed to. RABBIT CONTROL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Tinui Rabbit. Association was held yesterday, Mr. J. Andrew being in the chair. It was reported that six new members had joined the association since the last meeting. At present some inconvenience was being caused by the "association being short of a rabbiter. It was decided to make a levy for incidental expenses of 5s per member. The following committee was set up: Messrs. R. S. Pilmer, J. Andrew. W. i French. D. H. Speedy and T. W. S. Langdon.
