HERD TESTING GROUP FIGURES. ("Times-Age” Special.) The Wellington-Hawke's Eay Herd Improvement. Association reports having tested 33,546 cows in the month of March. The average cow produced 554 lb. milk of 5.2 average test, yielding 28.711 b. butterfat. The highest group in the Association was that of Makirikiri-Okoia. wherein 400 cows averaged 371 b. butterfat. The highest herd in the Association was one of eight cows which averaged 451 b. fat and the highest cow in the Association produced 871 b. butterfat for the 30-day period. The following are the local group figures for the month of March: —■ Group average: Pahiatua, 438 cows, 311 b. fat; Konini, 548 cows. 311 b. fat: Eketahuna-Rongomai. 672 cows, 301 b. fat; Woodville. 1084 cows, 311 b. fat; Nireaha-Hukanui. 760 cows, 291 b. fat. Highest herd average: Pahiatua. 8 cows, 481 b. fat; Konini. 103 cows. 381 b. fat; Eketahuna-Rongomai, two herds. 371 b. fat; Woodville, 28 cows, 411 b. far: Nireaha-Hukanui. three herds, 331 b. fat. Highest cow: Pahiatua. 681 b. fat; Konini, 571 b. fat; Eketahuna-Rongomai. C6lb. fat; Woodville, 681 b. fat; NireahaHukanui, 811 b. fat. Miniature Rifle Club. The Eketahuna Miniature Rifle Club will commence the season’s activities hy holding a practice shoot on its range tonight, when it is hoped all members and intending members will be present to “get their eye in” for the more serious competitions ahead. Personal Items. j Mrs R. D. McGregor has returned tc Pongaroa after having paid a brief visit to Eketahuna.. Miss P. Goggin, Rongokokako, is at present an inmate of the Pahiatua Hospital. Mr and Mrs J. S. Mcßean (Wood- \ ille) spent the weekend in Pongaroa ar. the guests of Mr and Mrs F. H. Mayman.
