BOWLING
CHAMPION OF CHAMPION PAIRS. WON BY FEATHERSTON. (Notes by “The Bowler.”) ■; The final of the Wairarapa champion of champion pairs was played on the Masterton Club's green on Saturday last. The finalists were J. B. Davis and J. Deas (s) of the Featherston Club, and J. Skeet and W. Christian (s) o’ the Masterton Club. The green was naturally heavy after the rain, but notwithstanding this some good bowls were played. The scores on the last head were: Featherston 22. Masterton 10. and the winners deserved their win. as they played more consistent bowls than their opponents. At the conclusion of the game. Mr. G. Hayne, the president of the Wairarapa Bowling Centre, congratulated the Featherston pair on their win and also made complimentary reference to the fact that the Featherston Club, which had only a small membership had won the singles, pairs and rinks in the champion of champion events. I add my congratulations to the Featherston pair on their fine effort, but the Masterton pair are also to be congratulated on being the' runners-up. The details of the game are as follow —■ On the sixth head the scores were fairly even. Featherston 4. Masterton 3. but the Masterton pair were unable to increase their score on the next six' heads, and on the twelfth end the board showed Featherston 16. Masterton 3. and although Masterton tried hard to overtake their opponents, they did not succeed, and the game finally ended. Featherston 22. Masterton 10. HANDICAP SINGLES. The handicap singles of the Masterton Club are nearing completion. F. Mills is to play W. Christian, and W. Reid will play the winner of that game.
