AUCKLAND DRIVERS
UNION DECIDES TO LEAVE LABOUR PARTY. RATHER SMALL MEETING. (By Telegraph-Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 14. A decision to cancel its affiliation with the New Zealand Labour Party was reached by tlie Auckland Drivers’ Union following a discussion on the expulsion from the party of the M.P. for Grey Lynn, Mr Lee, at a meeting of the union this morning. The president, Mr M. G. Osborn, presided over about 50 members. The meeting also adopted resolutions censuring the Drivers’ Federation delegates to the Easter conference of the Labour Party for their lack of activity in supporting certain remits, and agreeing to write to the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, demanding the reintroduction of the "Man in the Street" and “Social Justice" sessions by the Commercial Broadcasting Service. A member suggested that the reso- < lution to cancel the union’s affiliation with the Labour Party should not be put as there was a comparatively small attendance. He said the meeting was j not fully representative of the union. Other members, however, stated that ample notice of the meeting had been given and the subjects to be discussed had been notified; therefore members who attended were evidently those sufficiently interested to do so. The resolution was then put to the meeting and carried with only two dissentients.
