The sprint went to Endorsement who had no difficulty in beating Rakahanga. The Nelson Cup on Saturday was won by Roy Bun, by half a length from Mishna, while Skyrena, which went out favourite for the Newman Handicap, easily won from Acrobat. Clipper accounted for the Autumn Handicap at the Whangarei meeting, there being a great finish between Clipper, Namara and Jack Tar. The Flying Handicap was won by Aero King by a length from Merry Vaals. There was a surprise win in the Chief event at Oamaru when Night Pal won a thrilling race from Settlement. Petersham was first past the post in the Elderslie Handicap, heading Nightcalm by a neck.
