CURRENT TOPICS FROM STABLE AND COURSE Final Day at Hawke’s Bay KATHBELLA WINS CHIEF EVENT NELSON CUP TO ROY BUN CLIPPER SCORES AT WHANGAREI NIGHT PAL BRINGS OFF SURPRISE AT OAMARU (BY “THE GRAFTER/7 At the concluding day of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club's meeting on Saturday the chief event, the Hastings Handicap, was won by Kathbella, the favourite, by a length from Black Thread. The sprint went to Endorsement who had no difficulty in beating Rakahanga. The Nelson Cup on Saturday was won by Roy Bun, by half a length from Mishna, while Skyrena, which went out favourite for the Newman Handicap, easily won from Acrobat. Clipper accounted for the Autumn Handicap at the Whangarei meeting, there being a great finish between Clipper, Namara and Jack Tar. The Flying Handicap was won by Aero King by a length from Merry Vaals. There was a surprise win in the Chief event at Oamaru when Night Pal won a thrilling race from Settlement. Petersham was first past the post in the Elderslie Handicap, heading Nightcalm by a neck.
