The stock markets have displayed remarkable resistance to the latest turn of hostilities. The money and discount markets are almost completely indifferent. The Stock Exchange remained calmly confident. Varying news admittedly afl'ected prices, but there was no evidence of pressure to sell. Much of the earlier decline was was recovered. The free commodity markets reacted to the extension of hostilities with a firmer tone and higher prices.
