WEDDINGS
WESTON—VALPY. The marriage recently took place at Masterton of Phyllis Ann Louise, second daughter of Mr and Mrs P. B. Valpy, of Napier, and Harold Thomas, eldest son of Mr and Mrs T. Weston, of Ashburton. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore an unusual gown of white figured satin cut on Victorian lines, the bodice being tight-fijtting, and featuring a heart-shaped neck, with a row of tiny .bows to the waist, and leg-of-mutton sleeves. The skirt was very full, with padded hips and a slight train. Her beautiful veil of embroidered net (kindly lent by a friend) was held in place by two flow|ers. . A bouquet of white and mauvej tinted asters completed a dainty picI ture. | The bridesmaids were Misses Molly Stimpson (chief) and Verna Palamontain. cousins of the bride. They wore charming frocks, made alike of mermaid blue sheer, cut simply, with heart-shaped necks, puff sleeves, and skirts cut to fullness at the back. They both wore small gold crosses, the gift's of the bridegroom. Gold sequin halos were worn as head-dresses, and they | carried bouquets of autumn-tinted I flowers. The best man was Mr J. Horick, of Wellington, and Mr E. A. Breen, of Masterton. acted as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Epiphany Hall, the guests being received by Mrs Valpy, mother of the bride, who wore a frock of black sheer, with gold spray, and a black hat. She carried a posj' of red dahlias. The bridegroom's parents were unavoidably absent.
Afterwards a dance was held, during which Mr and Mrs Weston left on a motor tour. Mrs Weston wearing a smart .ensemble, the fawn skirt being topped by a striped coat, and fawn hat. She wore brown accessories. The future home of Mr and Mrs H. T. Weston will be in Wanganui.
LAING—ROBINSON
The marriage took place at St Matthew’s Church, Masterton, recently, of Marion Ivy, eldest daughter of the late Mr H. Robinson and Mrs Robinson, Masterton, and James Macfarlane, eldest son of Mr and Mrs James Laing, The Peaks, Tinui. The ceremony was performed by Archdeacon E. J. Rich. The bride, who was given away by Mr Kearton, Wellington, wore a frock of love-in-the-mist blue, with -toque and shoulder veil to tone. She carried a sheaf of pink and blue flowers and maidenhair fern. The only bridesmaid, Miss Alma Davidson, wore a frock of storm blue, with matching bouquet. The best man was Mr James Shearer Masterton.
A reception was held at the Midland Hotel, where the guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore a frock of black french crepe, large hat of black felt, and a shoulder spray of fuchsias and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom’s mother was in a frock of silver-run black georgette, and black hat. Her shoulder spray was of mauve primroses. The bride travelled in a navy tailored costume, with navy accessories.
