GLADSTONE
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. ("Times-Age" Special.) The monthly meeting of the Gladstone Women's Institute was held yesterday. Mrs Joblin presiding over a good attendance of members. The meeting opened with the singing of the National Anthem, and the Ode to Friendship. Mesdames Wellwood and McKay were appointed vice-presidents lor the following year. The Gladstone members were responsible for the afternoon's entertainment. A feature of the afternoon was a display of articles for use in the pantry. Mrs McKay gave an interesting talk on Paris. Mrs Rankin contributed a recitation. Both were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The results of competitions were: Potato, Mrs Cave. 461bs, 1; Mrs Cooper. 421bs, 2. Best article made from a man's handkerchief: Miss Dalgleish. 1; best bloom. Miss Cooper 1. Miss Bubb was responsible for the afternoon tea. The next meeting will be held on May 16. The competitions will be: a cheese savoury, and the best bloom. The roll call will be: "The uses of a lemon.”
