WAY INTO KATTEGAT
OPENED BY BRITISH SUBMARINES GERMAN SHIPS FOLLOWED THROUGH MINEFIELDS. COURSES RECORDED AND PLOTTED. (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 11. It is learned in London that the advance of the British Navy to the Kattegat was possible owing to the audacious heroism of submarines which patrolled the Skagerrak and Kattegat for many months, plotted German minefields and followed German ships through the minefields, recording the course, which was signalled to the Fleet. The submarines are believed to have been responsible for the sinkings at Marstrand, as no British warships were seen. ENEMY CRUISER SUNK ROYAL AIR FORCE REPORT. (Received This Day. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 11. The R.A.F. on April 5 bombed a German cruiser off Bergen and reconnaissance reports yesterday indicated that it was sunk.
