K'ATERE CLUB. SEASON TO OPEN ON SATURDAY. On Saturday the Kiatere Harrier Club will open the 1940 season with a preliminary training run. This will be over a '.'-mile course, starting from the Solway Showgrounds at 2.30 p.m. ■lt is hoped that there will be a good attendance of both senior anu junior runners and all supporters are invited to be in attendance. New and intending members should notice that the run will commence from the south gate of the Showgrounds. As the official opening will take place in two weeks time, members are requested to attend the preliminary runs. At the recent annual meeting, all members expressed their eagerness to start the weekly runs as soon as possible.

MASTERTON CLUB. PROGRAMME FOR HALF YEAR. A meeting of the committee of the Masterton. Harrier Club was held last evening. It was decided that the opening run be held from the Park Oval on Saturday. April 20, when new members will* be welcomed, followed by afternoon tea, and a dance in the evening. A preliminary run will be held on Saturday next at 2.30 p.m. The programme for the first half of the year was arranged as follows: — April 13, preliminary run; April 20, opening run; April 27, friendly run; May 4, friendly run; May 11, mystery run; May 18, five mile sealed handicap; May 25, friendly run over’ golf links; June 1 Sanders Cup contest against Hutt Valley at Masterton; June 8, hares and hounds; June 15, 6.| mile sealed handicap over golf links; June 22, open handicap, extended limit; June 29, contest against Wanganui, at Wanganui (Benson trophy). Trophies will be awarded for all sealed, open handicap events, and in-ter-club runs. Members on active service have been granted honorary membership for the duration of the war. A special programme is being drawn up for junior runners. A. succesful season is anticipated.
