BRITAIN NOT DEPENDENT ON SCANDINAVIA. AMPLE FLOW FROM EMPIRE SOURCES. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. April 9. Making a special statement in view of the "developments in Scandinavia." the Minister of Food. Lord Woolton. [ said the bacon supply was ample, as I Britain has never counted on getting regular supplies from Denmark and Norway, and had a large weekly contract with Canada and agreements with Eire and Northern Ireland. Increasing home supplies were also becoming available. Regarding butter, there was still plenty for some time, even if imports were interrupted in the immediate future. Large supplies were now coming in from Australia and New Zealand.
