BV BRITISH NAVAL FORCES FLEET OF ENEMY TRANSPORTS DISPERSED. TWO REPORTED SUNK. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 9.15 a.m.) STOCKHOLM, April 10. A radio message states that a great sea battle is raging outside Swedish waters near Marstrand (an island north of Goteborg, at the entrance to the Kattegat). British warships are reported to have dispersed a large fleet of German transports. It is also announced that two German transports were sunk off Paternoster Rock, an island off Goteborg.
NORWEGIANS RALLYING IN TOWNS ROUND NARVIK ALLIES EXPECTED TO LAND TROOPS. (Received This Day. 10.15 a.m.) LONDON. April 10. The Norwegians are rallying in towns round Narvik to fight the invader, who is meeting with difficulties in face of attacks from the British Navy. Norwegian mountaineers are operatI ing in the snow behind improvised I lines. The German landing force is believed to be small. The Norwegians I are withdrawing ten miles to get out of range of warships. Strategists point out that with Tromso stilt in Norwegian hands, the way is open for the Allies to land troops for an overland march from the south for the relief of Narvik. HAMAR OCCUPIED ACCORDING TO GERMANS. WHEREABOUTS OF KING UNKNOWN. (Received This Dav. 10.15 a.m.) BERLIN. April 10. Authorised sources state that German forces occupied Hamar. The whereabouts of King Haakon are unknown.
